Finding A Computer
You will need a computer with Internet access and a web browser with the minimum configuration of Netscape 3 or Internet Explorer. If you are in a residence hall on campus and have a computer with the Ethernet connection, you should have no problem registering from your room. Call the Help Desk at x5855 if you experience difficulty.
If you are off campus and do not have access to a computer, you may use a public library, a friend’s, one of the public computer labs on campus, or any other facility available to you that has computers with internet capability. The TCU campus public computer labs are located in the Library in Room 112, the Student Center Reading Room in the southwest corner on the first floor, or the Writing Center Lab in the Rickel Building, Room 100. If you experience difficulty enrolling, consult the FAQ section of the Registrar’s Home Page for troubleshooting tips.
Searching for Classes
There are several ways to access this information. One way that gives you a lot of flexibility in planning is to use the CLASS SEARCH page which you can access from the Registrar's Home Page or from MY.TCU.EDU. This program allows you to search by subject, TCU CORE, class days, class times and class status (Open, Closed, Permit Only). You can define your search as broadly or narrowly as you choose to design your "perfect schedule." For example, if you want to see all the Sociology classes offered for the term, click the down arrow by Subject Code, scroll down and select SOCI and click on SEARCH. You will see a listing of all courses offered by the Sociology department for the term. Open classes will be listed in black, closed in red, and permit-only classes in blue. This listing will also show class sizes and number of students currently enrolled, professor name, meeting days and times, TCU CORE satisfied (if applicable), subject name, course number, section number, and the five-digit class number you need to know for enrollment purposes. If you don't want any classes before 10:00 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m., you can enter those time criteria into the search boxes and click on SEARCH and the computer will list all classes available during those times. You can use the Class Attributes drop-down arrow to designate Freshman Seminar, Honors, Study Abroad, Online Courses, etc. Just remember, the more information you give the computer, the more you can narrow your search. If you prefer to search using an index of course subjects, you may choose the alternate method in Class Search by clicking the GO button in the bottom right of the Class Search panel.
