Fall Commencement Ceremony Information
Date and Time: Saturday, December 19, 2009
Times : 1:00 p.m.
The Chancellor's Reception at 11:00 AM- 12:00 PM. Specific instructions concerning the commencement ceremony will be mailed in late November. A commencement handbook will be mailed to the family of the degree candidate at their permanent address.
Ordering your cap
and gown and diploma
Cap and gown orders placed after November 13, 2009 are subject to a late
fee and must contact Herff Jones at 281-379-3825. The cap and gown is a rental unit;
however, graduate students who wish to purchase the gown and/or hood
may contact Herff Jones. If you cannot attend commencement,
check in the "Not Attending Commencement" box.
Tradition suggests your full name (First Middle Last) for the diploma, no nicknames or titles. The name published in the commencement program will be the same as the name on your academic records at TCU. Deadline for online diploma ordering is November 13, 2009.
Payment of fees
The graduation fee is charged to (all degree candidates including students
graduating “In Absentia”) your student account. Once you are listed
as a degree candidate, this is a non-refundable fee if your graduation
is deferred for academic or financial reasons. Your student account,
including this fee, must be paid in full by December 5, 2009.
- Undergraduate: $55.00
- Graduate: $65.00
- Doctorate: $100.00
MASTERS and DOCTORAL FEES
The following items require separate payment and cannot be charged to
the student account. Please submit a separate check or cash payment for:
- Thesis: $65.00
- Dissertation: $75.00
Transcripts
The deadline for submitting transcripts from other institutions is December
11, 2009. If you are currently enrolled at another college or university,
you should arrange for early exams in order to meet this deadline.
Announcements and
Photographs
You may order announcements through the University Book Store, and you
may invite an unlimited number of guests. A local studio will photograph
commencement and then contact you about individual orders. If you have

CAP AND GOWN - Academic regalia is rented, unless purchased by the individual. Order your cap and gowns by logging on the Registrars home page at www.reg.tcu.edu. Pick up cap and gown: Friday, December 18, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Daniel-Meyer Coliseum or Saturday, December 19, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
NUMBER CARD - Each degree candidate must have a number card for the processional. Bring the card you receive in the mail. If you misplace it, a replacement can be obtained at the Registrar's Table just before the Class assembles.
WHERE AND WHEN TO ASSEMBLE -12:15 PM for 1:00 PM commencement in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum North Concourse.
GUESTS - Tickets are not required, each degree candidate may invite an unlimited number of guests. There is no reserved seating except for disabled. The ceremony lasts 2 1/2 - 3 hours.
HANDICAPPED SEATING/PARKING - Contact Office of Special Projects 257-7802
HONORS - Latin Honors are printed on the diploma. All honors are announced from the podium and are printed in the program. There are no cords for Latin Honors. Some organizations provide Honor Cords to wear with the Gown, contact your organization for this information.
ABSENTEES - Must provide name, student ID number, degree information and a permanent mailing address. Diplomas will be mailed after January 2, 2010.
